BETTER WIFI TO YOUR TV
When Oxford Aerials began trading in 1989, all TV viewing was via a terrestrial TV aerial. Oxford Aerials have certainly fitted more TV aerials in Oxfordshire than any other independent company. Although most viewing is still via a terrestrial TV aerial or a satellite dish, there is a growing shift to streaming services.
Viewers are turning increasingly to Netflix, Disney, Amazon and Freeview online including iPlayer & ITVX for example for their viewing. This gives viewers the flexibility of watching what they want when they want and gives a much wider choice of viewing than broadcast TV.
Getting a good, reliable internet feed to your TV is now more vital than ever. All smart TVs are now able to pick up Wi-Fi, so if your Wi-Fi is good and strong in the room where your TV is then the internet TV services will work well. This is how most internet TV is viewed. But if the router is in a different room to your TV then the Wi-Fi can sometimes be too poor to give a good, continuous TV picture.
The streaming of a modern high definition movie requires a strong continuous internet connection to your TV to avoid annoying buffering of the service with the tell-tale wheel rotating, whilst waiting for more data to accumulate in the TV. If your router is a long way from one of your TVs or if you have a house with thick stone walls for example then the best way to avoid all this is to connect a Cat6 data point straight into your TV.
Oxford Aerials have been providing internet cabling to TV positions for many years now. Most houses which are built or renovated today will have Cat 6 data cables pre-installed behind the plaster at each nominated TV position. These will all be connected up and live ready for use wherever a resident decides to place a TV. We do lots of these installations in new houses. But, in existing properties there won’t be a pre-installed data cable, so if one is required then retro-fitting one is trickier.
Oxford Aerials have gained a great deal of expertise hiding new cables discretely into existing houses. We can run cables very neatly externally on your building, through your loft to the correct part of your house and even behind your plasterboard to provide a virtually invisible Cat 6 installation to your TV.
If you have any trouble streaming internet TV we are very happy to come and give a free survey to assess what’s causing the problem, then to talk through the neatest way to run a data cable directly from your router to your TV. We can give you a quotation to do this work and you can then be sure of a neat and tidy installation and a seamless viewing experience.
