TV Reception Conditions in Bicester

Bicester is very close to the Oxford transmitter which is in the village of Beckley and therefore generally has very good TV aerial reception conditions. Most of the area is flat so signals are strong. Often in Bicester, a digital aerial installation can deliver enough signal to feed two or even four TV’s without the cost of an amplifier. Like all areas, Bicester has one or two patches where the aerials cannot receive good signals because of obstructions. One is the south end of Langford village where Graven Hill blocks the Oxford broadcasts reducing the level of digital signals. At the other end of Langford village, the Mars building causes severe reflections which can destroy signals. The next strongest TV signals in Bicester are from the Hannington transmitter. However, this is not a very useful alternative, as it arrives from the same direction and so tends to be blocked by the same obstacles as the Oxford signals.

OXFORD AERIALS also provide a Sky dish installation service and satellite dish repair service.

We provide domestic and commercial tv aerial and satellite installation services. No job is too big or too small. Call 01869 879111 or 01865 400141 for a free quotation.

Local Television Reception Conditions

Most of the surrounding villages also benefit from excellent television reception unless there are trees blocking signals. The exceptions are: Souldern, Somerton and particularly Lower Heyford where low lying areas suffer very bad reception. The BBC / ITV Freesat is service is increasingly used in these poor signal patches. Our digital aerial installers are also satellite television installers and so also do these types of satellite installations. This allows us to come to site to a poor reception area and decide on the day whether to carry out an aerial repair, a new digital aerial installation or a Freesat installation. A dish installation can also be more discreet in some circumstances.

Poor TV Reception? Try a data cable for as little as £100

If you do live in an area where terrestrial TV reception is not achievable thenaside from Freesat, you can now watch all your TV channels via the internet.

This is possible either through the regular catch up services or from the new dedicated Freely TV app which delivers all of the BBC and ITV channels in one app. This can replace the need for a TV aerial.

To watch internet TV, a television needs a good incoming internet signal. Sometimes a TV can pick up a good signal form the Wifi, if the router is near enough to the TV. But the best way to guarantee a robust internet TV service is to have a dedicated data cable installed from your router to your TV.

Oxford Aerials now install lots of internet data cables to our client’s TVs. The cost of this is usually in the region of £100.
