TV Reception Conditions in Shrivenham

TV aerial reception conditions in Shrivenham and the surrounding villages is good. The ground is very flat in the area and pretty much all of the village can get reception from the most local transmitter which is in Oxford. As an alternative, there is also the possibility of getting reception from the Mendip transmitter which is near Bristol. Although Shrivenham is quite a distance from both of these transmitters and therefore receives a weaker signal, the power of the digital TV signals was increased dramatically during the digital switchover in 2011 and so now this is no longer a problem. The Oxford TV transmitter and the Mendip TV transmitters are in pretty much exactly opposite directions from Shrivenham which is an advantage if one of the transmitters is blocked by a tree or building. Our aerial installers are experienced in these sorts of problems and can advise as to which transmitter will work the best for you.

OXFORD AERIALS also provide a Sky dish installation service.

We provide domestic and commercial TV aerial and satellite installation services. No job is too big or small. Call 01367 703444 for a free quotation.

Local TV Reception Conditions

Of all of the surrounding villages, Watchfield and Coleshill have probably the weakest signals from the Oxford transmitter due to the lie of the land, however like many villages in the area, if a part of the village is blocked from the Oxford transmitter by hills or trees then the Mendip transmitter will probably work because it is in exactly the opposite direction. If in doubt, our aerial installers will always test to see which transmitter gives the best reception before fitting an aerial. If all else fails, our aerial installers can always install Freesat for you instead. This gives approximately the same range of channels as Freeview but works the same regardless of your location in the UK.

Poor TV Reception? Try a data cable for as little as £100

If you do live in an area where terrestrial TV reception is not achievable thenaside from Freesat, you can now watch all your TV channels via the internet.

This is possible either through the regular catch up services or from the new dedicated Freely TV app which delivers all of the BBC and ITV channels in one app. This can replace the need for a TV aerial.

To watch internet TV, a television needs a good incoming internet signal. Sometimes a TV can pick up a good signal form the Wifi, if the router is near enough to the TV. But the best way to guarantee a robust internet TV service is to have a dedicated data cable installed from your router to your TV.

Oxford Aerials now install lots of internet data cables to our client’s TVs. The cost of this is usually in the region of £100.
